Meet Peter, owner and operator of SportFirst at The Gap Village:
I’ve been operating SportFirst here at The Gap Village for 9 years now. The store offers a wide range of sporting goods and advice on finding the right item for your needs. We find that most of our customers like to shop locally, and we feel privileged to provide this convenience when it comes to sporting goods. We also stock a huge range of swimwear that is all at the highest level of chlorine resistance, that will last a lot longer than many other brands.
Our best selling products are firstly our wide ranges of shoes and football boots, but our one-piece swimwear also sell extremely well as they’re ideal for kids swimming lessons. Our diverse range of Wahu pool toys are great for the home pool and also an ideal kids gift to keep the kids active.
It can be challenging operating a small business, and one of the key challenges we face is internet shopping, which is is certainly taking a toll on all local small businesses. We have put a lot of effort into keeping our prices competitive and encourage shoppers to let us know if they see a cheaper price elsewhere – we’ll price match wherever possible! And also, if we don’t have the product you’re after, we’ll try to get it in for you. Just ask!
We are very appreciative of the support we’ve always received from residents of The Gap. It’s a very tight knit community with such friendly and welcoming residents, who are supportive of us and the three part time staff members we employ. We appreciate this continued local support, and with it, hope to continue supplying you with the best quality sporting goods and advice.
